Personal Projects
Below are a small selection of personal projects I have worked on, to help me gain knowledge and improve my skills in Matte painting and 3D modeling. Ranging in small city extension and cleanups, to full concepts and textured models.
Base in the Mountains
This piece was a personal project I made with the vision, of creating a dark and moody atmosphere and landscape
Sea mines
For this project I wanted to further experiment with underwater scenes and after being inspired by WW2 documentations. I decided to recreate an underwater minefield. The mines were modeled in Maya and textured in Substance painter, with the final tweaks done in Photoshop. You can find out more here! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Ze91bN
M&GNJR number 42
I had a lot of fun creating this one as the only reference I had was a side on shot of the real thing so most if it had to be interpreted by eye, The goal was to see how difficult it would be to recreate something with very little ref. You can find out more here! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/LebYGv
Underwater
The goal of this piece was to experiment with creating a realistic underwater scene, an area of DMP not very familiar to me. I really like the final result of this It really captures the feeling of underwater. You can see more of it here! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/lRaNOG
The Lighthouse
This piece originally started out as skill test in Substance painter to help me get better at texturing. However I decided to further expand this into a full scene in Maya before finishing it of in Photoshop. You can find out more here! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/w6lnwY
Shock Absorber
I wanted to model something different for this project as I had been doing a lot of cars and vehicles. I got to tryout modeling different shapes that were more interesting and complex than before. You can find out more here! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/rAr49e
Backdated image
On this piece I wanted to experiment with backdating an image and making it as photo real as possible. While not removing to much of the existing scenery. You can find more about it here! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/qQ3JxL
The Observatory
On this piece I had a lot of fun creating the lighting with HDRI’s, along with making and texturing the towers in Maya and Substance. You can find out more here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4X6ren
Desert City
This piece involved some heavy cleanup on the city walls. Along with some height extension of the city and some additional hills in the BG. You can find out more here! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Qnnw4x
